System Office Staff Council - SOSC

The SOSC represents the staff of the University of ÎçÒ¹AV System Offices.

Mission

The primary purposes of the SOSC are to provide an effective opportunity for System Office employees to play an active role in issues affecting their welfare; to promote a positive workplace; to represent employees' viewpoints on Regents' Policy, university regulations, and other matters affecting the intents of the university; and to act as a liaison between statewide employees, the University of ÎçÒ¹AV, and their respective communities.

Committees

Any member of the System Office staff can serve on committees. If you are interested in any of the committees, please contact either the chair of the committee listed below, or SOSC President Nicole Goff (nrgoff@alaska.edu).

Committees are an important part of SOSC's work and further assist in achieving the goals and objectives set forth by SOSC. They are formed for a specific task or objective. Committees shall report to SOSC at each regular meeting for the duration of the committee.

Two standing committees are outlined in the SOSC Constitution:
 
 
Current chair: 
This committee plans and facilitates the annual System Office Longevity and Outstanding Employee Awards ceremony. They also solicit staff nominations for the Outstanding Employee & Department awards and form a volunteer committee to evaluate the nominations and choose awardees.
Current chair: Committee has not yet formed for FY26
This committee facilitates the effort to solicit members interested in serving on SOSC. The nominations committee shall be formed no later than the regular meeting in February. Committee members help contact all nominees to confirm that they accept the nomination. Once a nominee has consented to be nominated, the committee will help collect photos and biographies from the nominees.
