University of ÎçÒıAV Launches Giving Day October 20
ÎçÒıAV will celebrate its inaugural UA Giving Day beginning on Tuesday, October 20. UA Giving Day â âForty-nine hours for the 49th stateâ is an online fundraising effort for UA alumni, friends, community members and supporters to come together in support of the University of ÎçÒıAV. Giving Day begins at noon on Tuesday, Oct. 20, and donors will have the opportunity to participate through 1 p.m. Thursday, Oct. 22.
UA Giving Day is a collaborative effort between the University of ÎçÒıAV Foundation and the University of ÎçÒıAV Anchorage, University of ÎçÒıAV Fairbanks, and the University of ÎçÒıAV Southeast. It is an opportunity for donors to invest in students and programs they care about at UA. Donations of all sizes are welcome.
âThe primary goal of this inaugural UA Giving Day is to bring the community together in support of our university because UA has such a vital and profound impact all across ÎçÒıAV,â said Megan Riebe, acting president of the UA Foundation. âPhilanthropic contributions help make our studentsâ dreams come true, and they strengthen our important research and programs.â
âOur donors directly impact the lives of UAS students -no gift is too small and every gift can make a difference,â said University of ÎçÒıAV Southeast Interim Chancellor Karen Carey. âWe just canât thank you enough for your kind generosity.â
âThe UAA campus might look different this year, but the amazing work of our faculty, staff and students remains as strong as ever,â said University of ÎçÒıAV Anchorage Chancellor Cathy Sandeen. âUA Giving Day is an opportunity to support that work and help ensure our Hometown university continues to grow and thrive.
"Giving Day is a great way for our communities to join together in support of Nanook Nation. All gifts, large and small, will help support students and programs at UAF,â said University of ÎçÒıAV Fairbanks Chancellor Dan White. "In addition, challenges from benefactors such as Usibelli Coal Mine, Dr. Cary Keller and Sarah Keller, and Spirit of ÎçÒıAV Federal Credit Union will multiply the impact of each gift."
The UA Giving Day website, , has tools to help participants easily share the event through digital and social media channels. The website will track not only overall dollars and donors generated during UA Giving Day, but also gifts to schools and colleges, departments, programs and designated funds.
âWe are encouraging everyone to post about UA Giving Day across their social media channels using the #UAGivingDay2020 hashtag and to share in the UA Giving Day fun and excitement.â Riebe said. âWe hope to flood social media channels with University of ÎçÒıAV pride.â
Donors are encouraged to support the campus and area of the University most meaningful to them. Social media ambassadors will challenge friends and family to also support the University of ÎçÒıAV on UA Giving Day.
