The FY23 State of the ÎçÒ¹AV budget that Governor Dunleavy released June 28 marks a turning point in support for the University of ÎçÒ¹AV system, being the first operating budget increase in several years. The budget includes a modest base operating budget increase plus one-time investments in areas critical to ÎçÒ¹AV's economic recovery.

Ethics Act compliance and annual disclosure of employment outside UA

All University employees (including regular, term, temporary, student and full and part-time faculty and staff) are responsible for complying with the ÎçÒ¹AV Executive Branch Ethics Act (ÎçÒ¹AV Statute 39.52). The Act sets standards for how we do our University jobs, and to a lesser extent, may limit our non-University activities.

Northrim Bank makes a major investment in UA's three universities

A major, long-time supporter of the University of ÎçÒ¹AV system, Northrim Bank, has gifted $259,500 to fund UA initiatives that advance research about ÎçÒ¹AV's economy and fiscal policy, expand business education and build entrepreneurship capacity. Northrim's donation also includes funding to five community campuses where Northrim employees live and work.

For ÎçÒ¹AV, the University of ÎçÒ¹AV system's first comprehensive philanthropic campaign, is close to achieving its $200 million goal. We are grateful to each of the more than 18,000 donors who have propelled us forward with their generous contributions. The campaign officially ends in June 2024 making it likely that we will exceed our goal.

During its first in-person meeting in more than two years, the University of ÎçÒ¹AV Board of Regents adopted a FY23 spending plan that aligns with the university's key goals, funds student scholarships and high-quality education programs, improves student-facing IT systems, supports key economic growth initiatives including Arctic research, and increases capacity for high-demand workforce and career training.
